Feb. 2017 - Lakeville FLL team Beestmode success at State Tournament!
At the 2017 state tournament, FLL team #19216 BEESTMODE won 1st place in Quality of Research, placed in the top 7 for Core Values (teamwork), and was considered for the Champion's award by finishing in the top 7 teams overall in the state out of 633 teams! These are highly significant accomplishments as Minnesota's High Tech Kids (the nonprofit FIRST partner that runs FIRST LEGO League in MN) is the 2nd largest regional partner of FIRST in the world with 633 teams. In Minnesota, simply advancing to the state tournament is a major accomplishment. Being considered for an award at state is impressive. Winning an award at state in MN is extremely difficult.
Many of the teams that make it to state are made up of girls and boys who have been participating in FLL for 3-5 years, so for both Ballistic Bots and BEESTMODE to advance to state competition is remarkable. For BEESTMODE to be in consideration for the Champions award, Core Values award, and to win the Quality of Research award as 6th graders with 1-2 years of experience is outstanding. At the state tournament, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Champions awards are given to teams who score exceptionally well in all judged categories - technical design, programming, research project, core values. BEESTMODE was one of 7 teams in the state in consideration for the Champions awards.
All twelve of Lakeville's FLL teams have worked tirelessly this season to contribute to the Lakeville tradition of producing highly competitive robotics teams. This is the fourth year in a row that a Lakeville FLL team has brought home state trophies. Lakeville Robotics is proud of the hard work and passion these teams have put into their season and hope they all return to compete in the 2017 Hydro Dynamics FLL Challenge!

Their Animal Allies research project and solution involves creating a website to allow animal shelters and animal transportation companies to work together to balance out overcrowded and underutilized shelters.
